After 20 years of marriage and three children, Steve and Karen use their life experiences of working with people to provide "fabled service" in real estate. They aim to go above and beyond what other agents provide for their clients. They believe in solid communication and their philosophy is that it is better to be proactive rather than reactive. While real estate is not as easy and straight forward like HGTV makes it seem, Steve and Karen attempt to make it feel that way for their clients. They handle the stress as best as they can, to minimize yours. This team has a consistent record of being top-producing agents for their company and area.
They would love the chance to meet with you and explain how their services could be beneficial to you. Whether buying or selling, they will help you navigate the ever-changing market to make the most of your investment and meet your real estate goals. Their family is ready to help yours!
The large majority of Steve and Karen's business is with repeat clients and with the friends and family they refer. They couldn't support their family without your trust in them. Thank you!

More info about The Toons:
The Toon family has been in real estate since Clare Toon started with Zachman & Associates in Perrysburg. Steve's mom Jeannie joined her in 1966 and expanded her business over Perrysburg, Maumee, and Toledo. Stephen teamed up with his mom to create "The Toon Team" in 2005 and Karen joined him in 2017. Now encompassing all of northwest Ohio, they are a husband and wife team consistently on the leaderboard as buying and selling agents for The Danberry Co.
Steve grew up in the South end and attended St. Pat's of Heatherdowns school while going along on many real estate appointments with his mom. As a teenager he often mowed lawns for his mom's clients while attending St. John's Jesuit High School. He prides himself on working multiple jobs as he earned degrees from both Owen's Community College and from Eastern Michigan University. He enjoyed hosting his own radio show at EMU, working in TV programming for a local station, and working for Cumulus Broadcasting in radio. He also worked as a caregiver for adults with traumatic brain injuries and was a campus lead for the EMU police department's campus security program. After college, he entered the full-time work force working in Cadillac, MI as the high school and community TV station co-director. Upon proposing to Karen, he moved back to Toledo and worked as a news producer for NBC24 in 2003. After attending Hondros College in real estate, he joined his mom and they started "The Toon Team" in 2005 with Welles Bowen Realty. After unexpectedly losing his mom in 2016, Karen joined him on the team and they partnered with The Danberry Co. in 2017.
Karen was raised in Perrysburg and attended PHS and then Eastern Michigan University to earn her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and Psychology. After working as an OT, she went back to EMU to complete her Master of Science in Advanced Occupational Therapy with a concentration of coursework in neurology and Autism. She defended her thesis two weeks before their 2nd child was born. With a background in long-term care, out-patient rehab, and Sylvania Schools OT (preschool-12th grade), she joined Steve in real estate.
Outside of real estate, Steve and Karen love spending time with their children and exploring the area metroparks. They find enjoyment giving back to their community through coaching multiple CYO sports and leading the Saint Rose cross country program. In addition, they are involved at St. Rose Church and School where Steve is a member of the school advisory committee and The Knights of Columbus. They enjoy fundraising for the local pregnancy centers and volunteering at many local Run Toledo races and The Glass City Marathon. In addition, they both love running and being outdoors! Steve's proudest running accomplishment is The Glass City Marathon and Karen's is the Trillium Women's Only Triathlon. They also love home remodeling!
